Club members old and new gathered on Saturday evening (24th June) to support the launch of Helen Cooper’s third book, ‘The Couple in the Photo’. The launch party occupied the Terrace Room at the Phoenix Cinema and Arts Centre, and what a lovely summer evening we were treated to as the sun shone and members got to enjoy the full benefits of the terrace, alongside nibbles, a speech and a ‘sign the book’ session with Helen.
Widely reviewed as the best yet of her three books, Helen gives fulsome praise for the role the club played in the creation of the story in the book’s acknowledgments section:
“Leicester Writers’ Club … were my first readers, and helped to vastly improve and shape this novel in its early drafts… feedback led to some significant changes that have made this an infinitely better novel,” she writes.
