Club Member Carol Leeming appointed Royal Literary Fund Lector

The club is delighted to congratulate club member Carol Leeming MBE on her appointment as Royal Literary Fund Lector for the RLF Reading Round in Leicester.

Carol Leeming is a successful Leicester published poet, playwright and author, hailed by academics as a polymath, for her diverse artistic creative roles. The RLF Reading Round Programme begins in first week in September 2023, Mondays 7-9pm at Phoenix Cinema & Arts Centre, Midland St Leicester. The programme is to run for a year. The RLF Reading Round Programme is run nationally, but it is now happening in Leicester for the first time ever!

Carol says, ‘This is fantastic for Leicester, it puts our city further on the literary map nationally. I am very proud to have been appointed as Lector, thrilled to be able to offer another, truly unique, rich literary experience, to add to our thriving literature scene, in our very culturally diverse city. Now I have completed the RLF training, I will be looking to recruit a culturally diverse group, of passionate literature lovers.

At each group meeting, they will listen to me as Lector read a poem, then a short story, before I lead the group in analysis of the text…. The great thing is, it’s not like a Book Club – there is no prior reading of chapters, participants come to just listen and discuss. Therefore, this is the pleasure of it, unlike Book Reading Groups! I will be directly recruiting end of July and in August 2023, I will be sharing more information and registration details at that time.’

We wish the new enterprise every success!
