LWC Member Creates New Imprint

Club and Committee Member, Dave Martin, is delighted to announce the formation of a new imprint, Forged Truth Publishing, and its first publication ‘The Typewriterists’ which is now available on Amazon. Club members will know this book well as Dave workshopped its chapters through our Thursday night manuscript meetings over the last few years.

Dave acknowledges the club’s importance and pays warm tribute at the back of the book:

“I’m indebted to the Leicester Writers’ Club, in my view the best and most helpful writing group in the country; I worked out recently that I had driven over fifty thousand miles to attend the Thursday night sessions since I joined in the 1990s — twice around the world.”

The novel is described by its author as ‘Downton Abbey meets Peaky Blinders… with typewriters’, a reflection of its main settings which sweep readers through a still class-ridden England from 1917 to 1940, taking in the horrors of early tanks at the Battle of Cambrai, through the years of peace, to the Blitz.

The new novel has already been showered with praise by both old and current members of the club:
“An absorbing and stunningly evocative work of fiction” — Jacob Ross (author of The Bone Readers)
Engaging, thoughtful, realistic… I loved it” — Chris d’Lacey (author of The Last Dragon Chronicles).

According to Forged Truth, the rather lovely cover art is down to a graphic artist who members of Dave’s family discovered in Vietnam! How’s that for international sourcing:
