Marc Gascoigne to Visit Leicester Writers’ Club

For our first speaker evening of the new year, Marc Gascoigne will be visiting the club on Thursday 13th February 2025 (7pm-9pm). As usual, the event will be ‘in person’ at Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre, Midland St, Leicester LE1 1TG, but also available on Zoom to those who register on-line. The event is free to club members and £5.00 to visitors/non-members. All are welcome.

Marc Gascoigne has worked in fantasy publishing for forty years. He helped nurture original talents (and won a World Fantasy Award) as founder and publisher of the singular Angry Robot, originally under the aegis of HarperCollins and then as an indie. He was editor and then publisher for Games Workshop’s Black Library, the gold-standard in tie-in fantasy fiction, and used that success to create Solaris Books too. More recently he set up another tie-in line, Aconyte, for tabletop games giant Asmodee. Now slowing down a little, he spends his time offering sage advice to wannabe publishers, and working on a whole heap of secret projects. Based in Nottingham and proudly Not-From-London, he has a lot to say on the state of modern publishing, and also some hard-won advice for those of us who just like to write.

Marc will be talking about current trends in genre publishing and answering questions.

You can register for the on-line event by contacting the club through the comments form below (please register by 11/2/2025). ‘In person’ attendees do not need to pre-register.
