Tom Newlands at Leicester Writer’s Club

In July, we will welcome Tom Newlands to Leicester Writers’ Club for another club speaker evening (Thursday 9th July 2026, from 7-9pm at Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre, Midland St, Leicester LE1 1TG.)

Tom Newlands is a neurodivergent writer from Scotland. His debut novel Only Here, Only Now – which was published in June 2025 – won the McKitterick Prize, was runner-up for the ADCI Literary Prize, shortlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize and named Waterstones Scottish Book of the Year.

He is also the recipient of a Royal Society of Literature Scriptorium Award, a London Writers Award and a Creative Future Writers’ Award.

His forthcoming novel Something Like Happiness hits the shelves in August 2026.
