Club members old and new gathered on Saturday (27th June 2026) in Leicester to support the launch of ‘The Woman In The Villa’ by Helen Cooper. Helen is a former President of Leicester Writers’ Club and still an active member of our committee.
Recently branded the ‘Queen of Psychological Thrillers’, this is Helen’s fifth novel, described by one early reader as, ‘Ultimate escapism. Absolutely perfect as a beach read or a lazy weekend evening entertainment.’
In her speech introducing the novel, Helen highlighted the impact that various writing groups had had on her writing, from the group that formed around her writing MA, to the profound influence of Leicester Writers’ Club and the Leicester-based ‘Speculators’ group.
Cakes, sparkling wine, and a book stall hosted by Kibworth Books were all part of a great afternoon. There was even time for Helen to sign some books (see picture above).
